My Story

As a child, I started to make dolls’ clothes by hand, and during my teen years, I completed a few small courses and learned how to sew with a domestic machine.

  • In 1992,  I took a sewing, and pattern making program in my home town, Moca, in the Dominican Republic in which I achieved the highest marks in the school. The achievements in this program landed me a teaching position at the same school in which  I taught to others all that I had learned.

  • In 1993, I got married to my wonderful husband Marcos, and came to Canada. I studied English as a second language for a few years.

  • In 1996, I had my first baby girl Talia, one year into motherhood and as a wife was great, but I wanted more.

  • In 1997,  I enrolled in the Fashion Design program at Marvel College in Edmonton, AB. In this program I received a Diploma in Fashion Design and a Certificate in Garment Industry. During this time at college, I was a mother, a wife, and a student. Life was busy, but I enjoyed it. Almost at the end of my college year, the director Marcy sent me to do my practical with a local Designer named Norma at Windscape Clothing Inc. When my practical was done, Norma hired me right away, I worked in patterns making, cutting, sewing, alterations and costumer service to her clients. 2 years working for her, I had to leave the job under my doctor’s recommendations, by now I was 6 months pregnant with my second baby boy, Elois.

  • From 2000 to 2005, I was a full time mom, and volunteer at my daughter’s school and dance school, The Edmonton School of Ballet. During this time I worked with a few of my own clients.

  • In 2005 the owner and director of the ballet school, Mrs. Flynn, offered me a part time job. 5 years into this part time position, Mrs. Flynn offered me a new position as a Wardrobe Assistant. I made all kind of dance costumes for the school dancers. I was responsible for more than 400 dancers in the Spring Show, 300 in the Contemporary Show, and 150 in the Novice Show. There were three different shows and a few competitions per year at this ballet school. I learned a great deal making dance costumes, alterations, dealing with dead lines and dancers of all ages. As busy as I was with the ballet school and personal life, I also found time to work with a few of my clients whenever they needed anything done. In 2016, I quit my job at ESB to focus on something different.

  • In May of 2017, I was hired by Indochino Edmonton as a Master Tailor performing alterations on men suits. A year later I left Indochino to start my own venture.

  • In February of 2018, I started the paper work for my new journey. A couple of months later, Pin Perfect Studio was born. Now, Pin Perfect Studio is up and running, I am so excited to had started this dream of my. Pin Perfect Studio focuses in any kind of alterations, tailoring and costume made clothing for women and children.

I am so Thankful to God, my husband, my children and the rest of my family for supporting me. Many thanks to my past my clients which are still coming to me when they need my services.
